An On/off Transient Imager with Event-driven, Asynchronous Read-out

چکیده

This paper describes the implementation of a CMOS image sensor that performs a two-way rectified temporal high-pass filtering operation on the incoming visual signal. The sensor adapts to background illuminance and responds to local positive and negative illuminance transients at separately coded terminals. The transients are converted into a stream of asynchronous binary pulses, which are multiplexed onto a common address bus, where the address encodes the location of the sending pixel and the sign of the transient. Gain, response threshold, and refractory period of the pixel output signals can be regulated. The version of the imager described here has an array of 48 48 pixels and was implemented with 0.35 m CMOS technology.

A Foveated Aer Imager Chip

We have developed a foveated imager chip with high resolution photo-cells (referred to as static pixels) in the center that are surrounded by more space consuming adaptive change detection pixels (referred to as dynamic pixels). Inspired by the neurons of biological nervous systems, they emit short voltage pulses, the static pixels with a frequency proportional to light intensity, the dynamic p...

On asynchronous eventful session semantics

Event-driven programming is one of the major paradigms in concurrent and communication-based programming, where events are typically detected as the arrival of messages on asynchronous channels. Unfortunately, the flexibility and performance of traditional event-driven programming come at the cost of more complex programs: low-level APIs and the obfuscation of event-driven control flow make pro...

Shapes Characterization on Address Event Representation Using Histograms of Oriented Events and an Extended LBP Approach

A new paradigm on visual sensing was introduced in 2006 with the first Event-Driven Dynamic Vision Sensor (DVS) [1], inspired by the asynchronous Address Event Representation (AER) introduced by Mahowald [2], and Kramer’s transient detector concept [3]. The Dynamic Vision Sensor (DVS), also known as silicon-retinae, consists of a 128x128 pixel grid, that captures asynchronous individual light c...

Concurrency Control for Multi - Processor Event - Driven Systems

This thesis describes libasync-mp, an extension of the libasync asynchronous programming library that allows event-driven applications to take advantage of multiprocessors by running code for event handlers in parallel. To control concurrency between events, the programmer can specify a color for each event: events with the same color (the default case) are handled serially; events with differe...

On the Design and Performance of Remote Disk Drivers for Clusters of PCs

This paper presents the design and performance of remote disk drivers for clusters of Commodity-Off-The-Shelf PCs that fetch disk blocks over System Area Networks. The driver offers a flexible interface, being capable to logically act either as computeror network-attached storage. It allows for fine-grain remote cache control through exclusive caching. An event-driven asynchronous block deliver...
